Dominica is an island that is small on the map, but has beautiful nature to perceive. The capital of Dominica is Roseau, which is northwest of Guadeloupe and southeast of Martinique. Dominica's nickname is Nature Isle of the Caribbean, because of the beauty that it shows. The island is very mountainous rainforest atmosphere that allows one to enjoy their living experiences. Dominica was one of the last islands to be colonized by the Europeans, but France debated with Great Britain to make the island a colony around the 1800’s. The population is about 70,000, which have different ethnic groups. The official language is English, but also has a dialect of French patois.
The culture in Dominica is very diverse, where there is a festival that is celebrated in many of the Caribbean islands, which is called carnival. It occurs in the months of February for Dominica, where many individual dress up in their costumes and enjoy the music from soca to calypso. Another important month in Dominica is November, because that is the month of independence. However, cuisine in Dominica is very unique with the different spices and herbs, this will make one crave more cuisine.
